Harvey's Automotive and Machine was established in 1989 by Harvey and Twyla Taylor as an automotive machine shop; later adding performance speed parts.
Harvey Taylor was a very talented machinist who decided, after the closing of his previous employer's business, that he would open his own shop in Norwalk, Iowa. Today, Harvey's Automotive and Machine operates as a CarQuest Auto Parts store in addition to our machine shop business. We have two auto parts stores; one in Norwalk, the other in Winterset. The Norwalk location specializes in the machine shop business with speed parts and traditional auto parts. The Winterset location is a traditional auto parts store with a strong inventory in heavy duty and agricultural parts.
Harvey's son, Jerry Taylor, took over operations in 2007 as owner after Harvey's health was failing and later lost his battle with cancer in 2009. Harvey's Automotive and Machine has served central Iowa with quality machine shop services since 1989 and have a huge following with their racing engines that have won thousands of races, many track championships, and prestigious racing events. Jerry Taylor and his wife, Annette, are looking forward to what the future has in store in the automotive industry and look forward to serving you with quality.
